General Info : One of the smallest pythons in the world .
Appearance : Brown splotches dot the red , reddish-brown or yellow dorsum of this gentle snake . Markings tend to blend into the background coloration by three to six years of age . Along the dorsolateral edge , just above the belly scutes , two lines of dark markings parallel each other to create a paler 'stripe' that extends for the first third to half the length of the body . A purple iridescence is evident along the curves of the coils in adults . The underside is paler and unmarked . The tongue is red with gray tips .
Sizes : 44'inches (99cm)
Range & Habitat : North Australia , Often near rock outcrops and light woodland .
Food : Small mammals , birds , lizards , frogs , bats .
Breeding : Egg-laying up to about 8-16 eggs .
My Notes : A pair of this gentle python can be kept in a 20 to 30 gallon terrarium . These pythons a good pet choice .
