Children's Python (Liasis Childreni)
General Info :
One of the smallest pythons in the world .
Appearance :
Brown splotches dot the red , reddish-brown or yellow dorsum of this gentle snake . Markings tend to blend
into the background coloration by three to six years of age . Along the dorsolateral edge , just above the
belly scutes , two lines of dark markings parallel each other to create a paler 'stripe' that extends for the
first third to half the length of the body . A purple iridescence is evident along the curves of the coils in
adults . The underside is paler and unmarked . The tongue is red with gray tips .

Range & Habitat :
North Australia , Often near rock outcrops and light woodland .
Food :
Small mammals , birds , lizards , frogs , bats .
Breeding :
Egg-laying up to about 8-16 eggs .
My Notes :
A pair of this gentle python can be kept in a 20 to 30 gallon terrarium . These pythons a good pet choice . |
